Welcome to our newest feature for Canes Hoops, our player ratings. Our first set of ratings are for the Hurricanes 66-47 win over St John's Sunday Night at the Bank United Center. Player ratings are on a 1-10 scale.
Eddie Rios 4
Rios making his third start in place of Jack McClinton was turnover prone and seemed to indecisive when handling the ball.
James Dews 5
Dews made several bad decisions on shot selection and didn't exhibit the vocal leadership we've come to expect from him in the early portion of this season.
Brian Asbury 2
I expected Asbury to break out this year but he seems to have returned to the timid, unaggressive style of his freshman year the past three games. Let's hope he returns to his Puerto Rico tipoff form really soon.
Jimmy Graham 2
Graham was outstanding midweek versus Alabama State but looked slow and worse weak in the paint versus St John's.
Anthony King 9
I'm not embellishing when I say that King is one of the best players in the country to this point. Statistics are for losers which is why King isn't getting the sort of publicity he should, but his mere presence on the court changes a game on both ends of the floor.
Jack McClinton 6
It's obvious his injury is still bothering him. Perhaps he needs to be rested some more before coming back. We need him healthy for the ACC campaign.
Lance Hurdle 8
Some early woes gave way to a confident second half both from a ball handling and a shooting standpoint. Upped his stock a great deal yesterday.
Ray Hicks 5
Solid but still seems to be lacking the strength and power he had two seasons ago.
Dwayne Collins 7
An outstanding performance at both ends of the floor. He's still raw but certainly is on his way to a nice Miami career.
