ACC Coaches continue to show how little loyalty they have. Just days after Chuck Amato returned to FSU and weeks after Tom O'Brien shockingly dumped BC for NC State, Patrick Nix who seemed to have the perfect setup at Georgia Tech has left Atlanta for the very same position Coral Gables. Nix has been the Tech offensive coordinator for three years, and was a standout QB at Auburn in the mid 1990s something the Gator Nation is painfully aware of. Nix was one of the best Auburn QBs ever and is considered to be one of the best young coaches in College Football, and many feel he will be a Head Coach soon.
This is an excellent hire by Randy Shannon. In fact I will go on the record saying this is a far better hire than any offensive coordinator selected by either Larry Coker or Butch Davis. Nix's first task is to try and convince Alabama commitment Robert Mavre, one of the top QB recruits in the nation to ditch the Tide for the Canes. Mavre visits Coral Gables this weekend.
