Canes Rising Special Report: Golden Not On Campus*

We're a month away from signing day, and Al Golden has disappeared. Multiple sources have confirmed that Golden is not in contact with staff and is what was described as "not in the office". Assistant coaches are still out on the recruiting trail, which means that the staff is unlikely to see significant changes. Personnel changes are allegedly a bone of contention between Golden and Athletic Director Blake James, despite claims to the contrary by James. This isn't the first time Golden has gone into seclusion. Last year, following his interview with Penn State, Golden wasn't seen for a week, he was allegedly mulling an offer from the Nittany Lions. While none of this means that Golden is leaving Miami, it's a situation that warrants monitoring. Stay with Canes Rising for updates as the situation develops.
Update(1/4)--Golden has been in contact with assistants recently, however he hasn't made any public appearances following the Duck Commander Independence Bowl. The Monday deadline pointed to by message boards and by some media members is most likely an arbitrary one that isn't based in reality.
Update(1/5)--So far nothing significant, on a day that people pointed to as a crucial day. Looks like what was mentioned on Sunday will hold. This may be a case of Golden taking time off, and choosing not to be on campus. While questions remain about the staff, those questions will be answered in due time.
