Heartbreaker: Canes lose in OT at Cameron

By Kartik Krishnaiyer/Canes Rising Staff

For the first half Miami looked oh so good. But then Duke stormed back as they always do at home. The Canes however weathered the storm and had a two point lead with just over a minute to go. But Greg Paulus hit a three and then Adrian Thomas missed an open look from two. An amazing three by Jack McClinton following Jon Scheyer's two free throws sent the game to OT. But as has been typical the Canes lost again in OT, making nine straight times the Canes have lost when a game went to OT.

Miami's inability to rebound the basketball was what fueled Duke's comeback, and then once in OT the Canes couldn't buy a basket. Miami has six possessions without a basket to begin OT. Duke was cold too initially in OT but once Gerald Henderson got going it was over.

Jack McClinton has his second consecutive thirty point game for the Canes, but it was not enough. Miami deserves credit for erasing a late six point deficit despite giving up a 16 point lead to send the game to overtime. James Dews played his best game in a long time, but Dwayne Collins was never able to get on track, and missed a shot in OT when he did get inside position on David McClure.

Much more analysis later.
