I'll admit as down as I am on the current state of the Miami program I detest the revisionism coming from many in the Gator camp about what has been accomplished by our program and our brothers to the north in Tallahassee over the past 25 years. The Gator myth claims neither FSU nor Miami would have won a title had they played in the SEC- this is a totally laughable charge. While I don't have the FSU record versus SEC teams in that period (although I know at one point they beat LSU on the road four times in a five year period because LSU in typically arrogant SEC fashion would not give FSU a return home game), I sure have the Miami one and I am more than happy to point out what was generally one mismatch after another- a new generation team based on speed, a pro style offensive attack and solid coaching against the antiquated ways of the Southeastern conference, a league whose propaganda machine politicked Florida into the national title game last season and politicked a two loss LSU into the title game. LSU whose losses to Kentucky and Arkansas are embarrassing for any BCS bowl participant- Kentucky and Arkansas lost between them 10 games this season! If Miami has lost to two five loss teams in our heyday our coach would have been on very thin ice coming into the bowl season.
Now the record since 1983 against CURRENT ( 2007) SEC opponents.
1983
Miami 3 @Florida 28
Miami 31 @ Miss State 7

2004
Miami 27 Florida 10 (bowl game)
2005
LSU 40 Miami 3 (bowl game)
Part of the reason Miami has had so few games against SEC opponents since 1990 is that it has become an unwritten rule that SEC teams don't leave the southeast for non-league games or for that matter even for most bowl games. Miami's record of 17-6 vs the current SEC since 1983 should more than put to bed the argument by some in the "Gator Nation" that Miami has an all time losing record against the SEC. Many of the games cited in that statistic are from a period between 1968 and 1979 when Miami played Alabama every single season- and lost every single year. If you look at the two great eras of Miami Football- from 1954 thru 1967 and from 1983 to 2003 you'll see Miami's record against the SEC is very very good. And that is something that cannot be argued with.

Gator Fan Myth: "Miami and Florida State would never have won anything in the SEC."

How many of those games were when Miami was cheating- paying players, illegally allowing thugs and other criminals to play and unloading the prisons the before games?
Of course you win when you cheat.
The number of petty criminals others in the cesspool of Miami is sickening.
Miami Vice played out in a big football stadium.
Of course you win when you cheat.
It is amazing how much cheating FSU + Miami have done through the years.
What's even more disturbing is the trends in urban culture initiated and supported by the outlaw behavior of both programs. These programs shouldn't be honored as this website did with a tribute to a criminal team half of which is probably in jail, but instead they should be held high as an example of why reputable institutions like the University of Florida should carry the day.
This proves all the bull shit spewed on the Gator sites is flat wrong.
WE'VE DOMINATED THOSE TURDS AND OTHER SEC LOW LIFE CREATURES FOR YEARS.
As for FSU playing LSU on the road five straight years that once again shows that these damn SEc teams will never leave their freaking comfort zone!
Wow, big balls from the two anonymous posters talking a whole lot about something they know nothing about. And gatorman, thank god you can bring your unbiased opinion to the table. Where would this argument be without your level-headed arguments. I like the Canes, but I prefer to bring facts rather than drivel.
"Reputable institution?" Would you care to take a look at Florida's rap sheet over the past few years? I doubt there's enough paper in Gainesville to print it all out.
Sure, UM has had its flaws, but Florida now is a national punchline. Urban Cryer is a scumbag, known as one of the dirtiest recruiters in the game. Players have routinely been arrested (eight arrests in a nine-month span), and meager suspensions follow, if at all. Hell, even having the gall to bringing charges against a player could endanger your life (just ask Stan Forron)!
Was UM cocky? Absolutely. Dirty? At times, unnecessarily so. But a team of criminals and cheaters? Sorry, with the exception of the silly Luther Campbell bounties and a few bad eggs spread over three decades, you'll have to head north of Lake Okeechobee for that kind of stuff.
And the whole "against the SEC" thing is a ridiculous argument. We were the most dominant program for 20 years, of course we throttled the SEC, especially the "reputable institution."
Bunch's Big Blog - blogs.themiamihurricane.com
Miami still lost 6 games though. If they played an entire SEC schedule they would not have gone undefeated and played in as many national championshop games. That is a FACT!
By posting this you make yourself come off very jealous of the Gator Nation.
Not Good.
How many of those games were when Miami was cheating- paying players, illegally allowing thugs and other criminals to play and unloading the prisons the before games?
Well one- the 1992 game versus Bama which we lost.
On the other hand Florida's wins over Miami in the 1983 and 1985 seasons were accomplished when the Gators violated according to the NCAA the 2nd most rules in the history of College Football. 106 total violations including the dreaded lack of institutional control.
Of course you win when you cheat.
The number of petty criminals others in the cesspool of Miami is sickening.
Miami Vice played out in a big football stadium.
Of course you win when you cheat.
Cheating is not something Florida fans should be talking about. Nor is criminals. Florida has had more active players arrested in the last six months than Miami has had since 1995. That is a FACT.
I'm not even going to touch the subtle racist code language in this post but to say UF should be held high as an example of a reputable institution is laughable. Maybe as a winning institution. Florida is on a run right now which every other school in the country envies. Two Basketball titles running with a decent shot (despite the media's writing off of the Gators) to at least make the Sweet 16 again this year and a National championship and Heisman Trophy the last two years in Football. But, to sweep under the rug the number of arrests among UF Football players, the arrest of a Basketball assistant coach on cocaine trafficking charges, the dismissal of Teddy DuPay from the Basketball team for gambling on SEC games, etc, etc is foolish.
Bunch- thanks for the link. That's exactly what I am talking about!
The Gator Nation doesn't take kindly to allegations like the false one you made that more Florida players have been arrested in the last six months than Miami players in the last 12 years. That is B/S and you know it. Miami players are street thugs who wear Malcom X hats and get busted for drugs and murder every day!
I have allowed the above ignorant bordering on racist comment to be published to just demonstrate to those majority of Gator fans who I know are good people how whacked part of your fan base is.
UM arrests the last 12 years:
- James Burgess (1996)- Charged with battery
-Jammi German (1997). Suspended for the season. Went to NFL and played several seasons with Atlanta.
- Marquese Fitzgerald (1999) Suspended 4 games.
- Antrel Rolle (2004) No charges filed
- Willie Williams (2006) Kicked off team
- Ryan Moore (2006) Some sort of plea deal
- Robert Marve (2007)
When Davis threw the book at Burgess and German that was it for discipline problems at UM for MANY years. But Urban Meyer has chosen to sugarcoat his players problems. Last year UF had a string of arrests and is alleged to have reinstated Marcus Thomas to the Football team just in time to face LSU even though he tested positive for a substance that later had him thrown out of school.
We've had our problems down here and have tried to deal with it despite the media speculation and outright bias against UM. You haven't dealt with your problems as a program and then you come to this site and start pointing fingers while one or two of you have diatribes bordering on racism. And you wonder why so many people dislike Gator fans?
EVERYONE TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!!!!
Let just focus on incidents from the last decade involving UF. I admit I copied this from another site:
Here are my top 10:
1. After Jarvis “Puffy” Moss jumped up (Ganja increased his vertical by 18?) and salvaged the croc’s season against the Gamecocks by blocking a last second field goal attempt, it was revealed he to also failed a drug test during the summer as the clock ticked to zero. Guess what game he missed? The showdown between top ranked UF versus division 1AA Western Carolina.
2. Gator great, Marcus “Medicinal Puff” Thomas - a multiple drug test failure, pot and GHB. Gator fans tried to convince us all it was from the same test… then the truth came out, near the end of the season with his dismissal from the team. Moss and Thomas were both drafted by the Broncos. WTF was Shanahan thinking?
3. Baby Momma Slappin Avery Atkins. The alleged victim, Benerah Sanford, told police: She and Atkins argued Saturday on a drive to Atkins’ grandmother’s house. Atkins leaned over and punched her at least 13 times, and pushed her face against the car’s window while he conversed with relatives. Every time Sanford tried to exit the car, Atkins either punched her or stepped on the gas. When the pair finally arrived at Atkins’ home, she ran off and called the police.?Earlier this month, Atkins was found in a car in Daytona Beach with weed, gun and digital scales. To top it off, it was not his car. He had enrolled in UF in January with plans to “fight his way back to the cornerback slot.”
4. Brandon James a football player and Brandon Powell who coincidently is the basketball player who sucker punched the Vandy student in the back of the head [link], were found together in Gainesville with…. you guessed it: marijuana in the car during an undercover “buy bust”. One felony and one misdemeanor — purchase of a controlled substance and possession of >20 grams of marijuana — suspended indefinitely.
5. WR Riley Cooper smashed a windshield, welcome the perfect gater. And just who is Jasim Alidina? Adlina was the victim of Freshman Riley Cooper’s flailing haymaker through his car window. While Alidina survived the incident, remarkably unscathed, neither Cooper nor the car were as lucky. Cooper was taken to the Morton Plant Hospital.
6. Florida defensive back Dorian Munroe charged with felony for removal of parking boot and placing it in his trunk. This was later ironed out as expected as UF is thin at the corner. One felony — theft of a police metal parking boot from his car
7. At Da Club, Ronnie “The Rifleman” Wilson slaps some guy, then spits on him, then ends it by shooting at him, luckily police actually stepped in one time before he killed that guy. two felonies and one misdemeanor — gun in a parking lot near campus — suspended indefinitely
8. LB Dusty “Rhodes” Doe, pummels some dude (ala Channing the Chainsaw Crowder) in a Alaucha County vs. Pasco County gang fight (Reds vs. Crips style). Punishment? No suspension from Meyer. Doe to face the (Jaws intro theme) Leadership Committee. one misdemeanor — disorderly conduct for parking garage brawl
9. The 7-Man shower Self shooting gun incident, Gator players led by Dee Webb, Andre “Bubba” Caldwell and Reggie Lewis had a $60,000 SUV loaded with improperly registered AK’s and other machine guns… and they were all drunk while shooting at apartment windows for fun. Of course initially nobody took the blame and they all said they were in the shower (together) and that the gun must have shot itself… Gators went with the deniable plausibility angle when Dee Webb shot off his arsenal saying he had already declared for the draft, so he was no longer a Gator.
T10. Dallas “Bike Taker” Baker, steals a bike, but when cops questioned him, Dallas said, “heck man, I just thought the bike was ‘abandoned’”. The sophomore was issued a sworn complaint from UPD as an officer stopped Baker near Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (which is a great place to take a deuce). Baker said he was late for an appointment and picked up an abandoned bicycle. Misdemeanor!!!
T10. Linebacker Taurean Charles. A UF student said Charles touched her against her will, the sworn complaint issued by the university police department said. Charles allegedly slammed her on the bed and onto a computer desk, picked her up over his head and threw her down on her roommate’s bed, according to the complaint. Charles was later dismissed from the Florida team.
Who is worse? Florida or Montana? [link]
Honorable Mention
Nyan (Cap’n Stabbin) Boateng gets into a heated arguement with some chick, a knife fight breaks out, Nyan Dogg ends up bloodied on the floor, luckily he was still alive.

Sep 17, 1999 (Source: Orlando Sentinel) -Warren, who was arrested Jan. 7, agreed to a deferred prosecution arrangement, costing him fines and community service that had him reading to local elementary school students in the off-season. UF’s Office of Student Judicial Affairs, which rules independently of the court system, slapped Warren with a two-game suspension.
July 3, 1999 (Source: Orlando Sentinel) - Coach Steve Spurrier was out of town and unavailable for comment. He has said since spring workouts that several players would be held out of early games due to violations of department or team rules as well as class attendance policies.
January, 1998 (Source: Various) - Florida tight end Dwight Edge is arrested on misdemeanor battery charges. Later, coach Steve Spurrier reinstates tight end Dwight Edge for spring drills after he agreed to enter a deferred pretrial intervention program. Edge has started sparingly for the Gators.
January, 1998 (Source: Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale Fla.]) - University of Florida wide receiver Jamie Richardson was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, a second-degree felony, for his part in a fight at a downtown Gainesville nightclub. Richardson was accused of striking club employee Jonathan Harris, 22, on the back of the head several times with a closed fist, knocking Harris to the ground and striking him with a pool cue. The arrest occurred just 23 days after Richardson came off a six-month probation, stemming from a no-contest plea to misdemeanor battery charges.
August, 1997 (Source: St. Petersburg Times) Anthony Mitchell, a defensive end, was charged with misdemeanor battery after he was accused of shoving another student into a dorm room wall in April. was suspended for the season opener against Southern Mississippi on Aug. 30.
August, 1997 (Source: Sun-Sentinel [Ft. Lauderdale Fla.]) - Four days before the start of fall practice, defensive tackle Ernie Badeaux left the Florida team transferred to Nichols State. According to published reports, the national champion Gators kicked Badeaux off the team, allegedly for violence off the field. Badeaux had off-field problems since he arrived in Gainesville . He got off to a shaky start when he hit another student in the back of the head outside a bar. His last incident reportedly involved another case of physical abuse.
February, 1997 (Source: St. Petersburg Times) - Guard Ryan Kalich, who started every game on the offensive line in 1996 pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence and faces a year of probation and six months without his driver’s license. Kalich, 20, was arrested Feb. 2 after his car collided with a car driven by an off-duty police officer. Breathalyzer tests showed his blood-alcohol level to be more than twice the legal limit. He was suspended from the season opener against Southern Mississippi .
August, 1997 (Source: St. Petersburg Times) - Zach Zedalis was suspended two games for having a BB gun in his dorm room. Zedalis said the BB gun was not his, but the university’s Student Judicial Affairs Committee denied his appeal twice.

The state attorney’s office declined to press formal charges. Williams instead was charged with a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer without violence, accusing him of lying to investigating police and encouraging witnesses to do the same. Williams pleaded no contest last month and is serving 90 days of non-reporting probation, in addition to paying court costs. Elijah Williams was suspended from the season opener.
GAINESVILLE - University of Florida athlete Dwight Edge was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony charge of aggravated stalking. Edge’s second episode of off-the-field violence prompted his immediately expulsion from school, sources said.
INCIDENT ENDS GRADDY’S UF CAREER
Orlando Sentinel - Published on 08/11/99
GAINESVILLE - This time, Rod Graddy didn’t need to get in trouble. Just being around it was enough to end his University of Florida football career.
Graddy, a junior strong safety and the Gators’ lone full-time starter returning from last year’s defense, was kicked off UF’s team for his involvement in the aftermath of a robbery in downtown Gainesville last weekend, school sources said.
February 1999 - (Source, CBS Sportline)- Former UF football players Tim Beauchamp and Dock Pollard have been named in an investigation for accepting cash from a sports agent during the past football season. The roommate of the two University of Florida football players, has been charged with illegally funneling money from a Lousiana sports agent to the athletes.Michael Joseph McDonald, 23, acted as a middleman for the agent and distributed the money to players. McDonald, of Gainesville , was charged with one felony count of unlicensed athletic agent activity. “We’re anticipating more charges” against other individuals, said policespokeswoman Sandy Badics. She could not say whether other players were involved. Florida officials said they learned about the investigation in late November, after the regular season had ended. The school suspended Beauchamp and Pollard on Dec. 28, before the Orange Bowl, for a violation of university rules. UF officials did not go public with incident until February, 10, nearly three months after the incident and a week after national signing day.
A recruiter for agent William “Tank” Black, who heads operations at Professional Management Inc., (”PMI”) of Columbia , S.C. , reportedly has been accused by agents of trying to bribe a Louisiana State assistant coach into funneling a top NFL prospect to PMI. PMI represents ex-UF players Fred Taylor, Reidel Anthony, Ike Hilliard and Jacquez Green, as well as outgoing Gators Jevon Kearse, Mike Peterson, Reggie McGrew and Johnny Rutledge.
January, 1999 - (Source, AP) Tight end Dwight Edge, 20, of Apopka was arrested and charged with felony aggravated stalking. University officials dismissed Edge from school soon after his arrest. A backup through most of the 1998 season, the sophomore was expected to compete for a starting position next season. According to a release from the University of Florida Police Department, Edge had been harassing and stalking a Florida student since she ended a relationship with him this past September. The release said Edge waited outside the victim’s residence, threw rocks at her window and placed harassing phone calls to her residence. Police said that on two occasions, Edge chased the victim through campus in his vehicle at speeds up to 50 mph.
January, 1999 - (Source, AP) Defensive lineman Gerard Warren, 20, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. Warren, a redshirt freshman from Union County , had not been in legal trouble previously. His case, which is still pending, is expected to result in a fine and possible community service. Neither the school, nor Spurrier has announced whether Warren … who is expected to be a starter next season … will be penalized….
December, 1998 (Source, Florida Times Union) - Three Florida players, including senior defensive end Tim Beauchamp, were suspended for violating university policy. Pollard and Browning, who have been in and out of trouble since enrolling at UF, will not return to the team. Pollard started the first five games of the season at cornerback before being suspended for the next two because of academic problems. He missed another game later in the season for a violation of university policy. Pollard was also part of a book theft incident with former player Damian Hill, although charges against Pollard were later dropped by the state attorney. Browning had been in trouble twice at UF, once for what he claimed as taking a student’s purse as a prank, and the other for driving under the influence.
August, 1998 (Source, USA Today) receiver Ian Skinner spent 15 days in county jail after a July 31 conviction for driving with a suspended license, which followed several previous arrests (4 times) on the same charge. He was also put on probation and ordered to pay fines. Skinner has not been suspended, pending possible action by the school’s Student Judicial Body. Skinner was quoted saying, “[t]he judge told me my driving record was so bad that I was looking at a year (in jail)….” Skinner said he spent part of his incarceration playing catch with toilet paper with other inmates. “But I was lucky. I told the attorneys I played football for the Gators and I had practice in a couple of weeks, and they brought it down to 15 days with probation.”
