# 5 : 1999 Florida State Seminoles

The only undefeated and untied team in the storied history of Florida State Football earns a special place on this list. Featuring Peter Warrick whose exploits as receiver and kick returner are perhaps the best we have ever seen in this state and Chris Weinke arguably one of the best college Quarterbacks ever, this team devoured its opposition in route to an awe inspiring Sugar Bowl win over Michael Vick and Virginia Tech. Travis Minor led the running game while Warrick was complemented in the passing game with game breaking receivers "Snoop" Minnis and Ron Dugans.

The Defense was awesome as well with Mario Edwards and Tay Cody forming the best corner combination in the country. After the Sugar Bowl it appeared Florida State would dominate Football in the state of Florida for the foreseeable future. Miami, despite a thrashing of Georgia Tech to end the year was just getting off probation and had in Butch Davis, a coach that still didn't understand how to make adjustments in game. Florida seemed to be slipping as well, ending the season with 3 consecutive losses.

But it was not to be. The next season Miami struck back beating the Noles and finishing #2 in the nation and by 2001 Florida was much better than Florida State as well, beating the Noles 37-13. This team was the last in a 13 year run of FSU teams to finish in the top 5 in all polls. Since 2001, Florida State has failed to finish in the top 10, with its best finish being #12 in 2003.

LA Tech 41-7
# 9 GA Tech 41-35
NC State 42-11
@UNC 42-10
Duke 51-23
#18 Miami 31-21
Wake 33-10
@ Clemson 17-14
@ UVA 35-10
Maryland 49-10
@ #5 Florida 30-23
# 2 VA Tech 46-29 (Sugar Bowl)

What a total disgrace this list is.

No team EVER in College Football was as prolific on offense as the 99 Noles, and produced more solid NFL players than the 99 Noles. No team dominated a tough schedule ever like the 99 Noles.

And yet you rank them 5th????????????????

What teams could possibly be ranked ahead of this team?

You are a Nole hating idiot. If even one Gator team is on the list above this you are biased an unqualified to write an objective site.

'96 Gators were more prolific on offence than the '99 Noles. Oh yeah, Chris Weinkie is sure having an excellent career at the Carolina Panthers. Not quite the Rex Grossman type.

Did Peter Warrick ever return the stuff he ripped off from Dillards? Just wait 'till he meets his maker!

God Bless

This was Dillard's favorite team with Pete Warrick and L. Coles having a shopping spree and then a field day against a weak schedule. This team caught Miami + Florida in the right years and the ACC at its weakest stage ever. The following years would see a resurgence of UM and UF as well as the emergence of Clemson, NC State and Maryland as top 25 teams that usually beat FSU at home. This was truly the end of the FSU "dynasty."

This was the most exciting team ever. Sure some other teams were good, but this team knew they would win easily every time they took the field. They had that "it" thing going!
