Miami Press Conference 11 AM Friday: Coker to be Fired

All indications are that the future of Head Coach Larry Coker will be the topic. Miami is bowl eligible but may fire Coker and decline a bowl bid, or allow an assistant to coach the game. Will post as details follow.

2 AM Update

Canesport Magaizine Publisher Gary Fearman confirms that Larry Coker will be fired and that Randy Shannon will coach the team in a Bowl game if Miami does in fact recieve a bowl bid.

10:30 AM Update

Two Miami almuni coaches in the SEC, Marc Richt and Tommy Tuberville have according to Cane Sport sent word they are not interested in the job. Tuberville however sent an additional message that the Canes need to stay within the UM family and try and lure either former Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano, currently Rutgers Head Coach back to Coral Gables or find another qualified coach who has been at UM.

Paul Dee announces the firing and also gives Coker the option of coaching a bowl game if Miami is invited.
