A little sun shower fell on the Gators BCS parade earlier this week when the Miami Herald reported that Florida commit Chris Rainey had received a bag of cash in a Lakeland restaurant and that he had also received free clothing from sports store in exchange for his autograph. I have been told UF's compliance department is cooperating with the NCAA and that the matter will be resolved quickly and without pain to the UF program. Last year, CJ Spiller accused Florida of tampering with his commitment to Clemson, but Clemson coach Tommy Bowden declined to press the issue with the NCAA.

Wasnt CJ Spiller leaning towards FSU and not even mentioning Florida?
Never knew Spiller had interest in Florida.
And for all you recruitnicks... an oral commitment is useless. Even a written commitment can be retracted. When the kid shows up on campus and is enrolled in classes, then and only then can i feel excited.
I heard the bag of cash had a return address of Knoxville, TN.
God Bless
jim rome,
Spiller was just being an ass, and Bowden smartly didn't pursue it, but the media has acted like it happened so I dropped it in the article so I am not accussed of acting like it never happened.
Every time I eat at Sambo's I find a bag of crack or cash, I don't see this as a big deal.
Sambos.... man thats old school!
I loved going to Sambos with my grandparents... the one off of Oakland Park Blvd, between 441 and I-95... It later became a taco place and then a guitar store.
I even have a Sambo's tiger stuffed animal doll with a baseball glove on one paw and a cap on its head.
Sambos... then Wags... Too bad I think Dennys is crap. I love that Waffle House though.
Thanks for clarifying Kartik (CJ Spiller) I'd love to see a RB with speed and a clean rap sheet show interest in UF. But perhaps those 2 things dont come together these days. Mon Williams.... Hey Mon, run baby, run!

Very impressive performance by Rainey in FHSAA championship game . . . something like 280 yards.
Good game, and we'll be seeing a lot of both team's players in D-1 programs next year.
