Gator fans, myself included have at times failed to appreciate what we had under center. For all his inconsistency and his mind numbing decisions, Chris Leak has always been and will always be a fighter and a winner. He proved that again today taking the team 70 + yards for the win in the most hostile environment possible against all of the momentum and inspite of a lack of running game. We've called out Leak before on this site, but today was his shining moment. His Senior moment, and perhaps a harbinger of a championship moment to come a week from today in Atlanta.
Other Thoughts:
- Does Jeff Bowden have any passing plays in the playbook besides the screen and jump ball?
- Recall my postings about Matt Grothe earlier in the season. In Grothe, USF has perhaps the next Pat White or Brian Brohm. Grothe is accurate as a passer and deadly as a runner. The Bulls got a program defining win today in Morgantown over West Virginia.
- Even when Miami doesn't play we are reminded how terrible the 2006 Canes were. With Virginia's defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech, Miami has lost to a team that finished below .500 for the first time since 1979. That is another statistic that demonstrates how futile this year's Miami team was. Thank goodness their season is finally over.
- Florida State and Miami will be fighting over lower tier Bowl destinations. One will go to Boise, the other to San Francisco. At least Miami's players act like they give a hoot, even when they are losing. Florida State contrary to my preview and much like the previous few weeks mailed it in early until UF had their typical 3rd quarter swoon that we have seen in Florida's last four games versus D 1A opposition.
- Poor poor Kentucky. Andre Woodson had a good game in Knoxville but the Wildcats kicking game cost them dearly as they were defeated for 21st straight time by the Vols.
- South Carolina beat Clemson, another sign that Tommy Bowden could actually be a worse coach than his father. Clemson's defense continues to blow games late and the Tigers 2006 season has to be considered one of the biggest disappointment in the nation.
- Duke-UNC was a classic. Too bad nobody got to see it, but the Tar Heel players beat both local rivals to give fired coach John Bunting a nice going away gift.
- Can't wait for Southern Cal to smack around Notre Dame tonight. At least I hope they kill them!

I've asked Coach Meyer to have a serious talk with Dan Mullen concerning play calling. The Gators are very talented but the play calling will ultimately be the straw that keeps them out of the Championship game.
Go Gators.
Nice points Kartik.
What a sappy load of b/s. When Leak throws away the game in Atlanta next week you will regret these nice words.
Your other points are excellent however.
I wouldnt exactly call Ron Zook field at Doak Campbell stadium a hostile environment especially when 40% of the stadium was occupied by GATOR fans. 35% FSU fans, 5% were the 2 school bands, 20% open seats left vacant by the piss poor fan base that calls themselves FSU fans and or alums.
Any way you cut it, FLORIDA had a running game, but when you gont gain squat on 2nd down, you usually end up passing on third and long.
It was sheer desperation that FSU managed any points, and pure luck the officials didnt gift the game to FSU no matter how hard they tried.
ON TO ATLANTA!
The Gators are the team to beat! Can you imagine what we would do to Ohio State if we got the chance?
