Over the last three years, Miami insiders have wondered which of Jim Larranaga's assistants would be the first to move into a head coaching job. Michael Huger won that race, he's heading home to   Bowling Green State University.  BGSU is where Huger played for Jim Larranaga, and it remains an important place for the coach.  Huger replaces former Falcons coach Chris Jans, who was fired after he sexually harassed patrons at a local bar. This will be the first time in eight years that Huger isn't a member of Larranaga's staff.

Jim Larranaga wasted no time in naming a replacement, former Richmond assistant Jamal Brunt has been named as Huger's replacement.  Brunt has spent the last eight years on Chris Mooney's staff, the last two years holding the title of Associate Head Coach. Brunt's responsibilities have included scheduling, something he's done quite well, as he's helped Richmond achieve multiple appearances in the RPI Top 100.   J.B. has a reputation as a good recruiter, thanks to his work in the state of Virginia. The Spiders have consistently out-recruited larger schools for some talented student-athletes, athletes who have gone on to great success at Richmond. The state of Virginia is a hotly contested recruiting area, and Brunt stood out.  During Brunt's tenure with the Spiders, Richmond has advanced to the Sweet 16, and to three other postseason appearances in the past six years.  While it remains to be seen if Brunt can successfully transition to the ACC, this appears to be a solid hire.  Miami's assistants have been the strength of the program throughout Larranaga's tenure,  there's no reason to believe that it won't continue.
