Likely not, as the storm is forecast to strike area between Jacksonville and Charleston Friday and will be long gone by 8pm Saturday. Secondly, Gainesville is far enough inland the rain and simply some gusty winds will not force postponement of this game. For Hurricane fans a potential postponement is nothing new. Let's review recent changes of games.
1998: Hurricane Georges forces the Miami-UCLA game to be pushed back to the final weekend of the season.
1999: Hurricane Irene forces a last minute postponement of the Miami-Temple game and that too is played the first weekend of December, the last weekend of the season.
2004: Miami-Florida State scheduled for Labor Day is postponed due to Hurricane Frances but played on Friday due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Ivan. As it turns out Ivan tracks north and west and hits the Florida Panhandle instead of Southwest Florida.
2005: Hurricane Wilma forces the postponement of the Miami-Georgia Tech game. I still maintain this game could have and should have been played on its originally scheduled date of October 22nd as Wilma did not hit SW Florida until the morning of October 24th. The rescheduled game of November 19th complicated Miami's schedule, leading to a loss in this game and ultimately Virginia Tech, not Miami representing the Coastal Division of the ACC in the Championship Game.
