- Florida State suffering from the hangover of suspensions and a poor game from two green QBs lost at home to Wake. This puts Wake in the drivers seat for the ACC title although no one in the league has talent even close to FSU's level. But the coaching at Florida State right now is so poor, in all likelihood that talent will go to waste.
- Virginia Tech plays a huge game for the ACC this week in Lincoln against Nebraska. The Hokies for their part have been outplayed in two ACC games yet are 2-0. That the sign of a winner.
- North Carolina losses a step without TJ Yates but with two talented QBs and the best WRs in the league, the Tar Heels will still beat Miami.
- Speaking of Miami, did you know the Canes are 12-16 in their last 28 games against D 1 FBS opponents and 7-13 in their last 20 games against opponents from a BCS league? How anyone can proclaim the Canes are back with those sorts of numbers is beyond me. Miami doesn't have anywhere near the talent of Florida State, but appears to not have the coaching issues FSU has either. Here's hoping the Canes can turn the corner this week against Carolina but I wouldn't hold my breath.
- Speaking of coaching issues at FSU, perhaps Jeff Bowden got a raw deal?
- NC State's rivalry with East Carolina has been an odd one through the years. Many may not realize this, but the Pirates are actually a rguably a bigger football rival for the Wolfpack than Duke or North Carolina. Jim Donnan and Chuck Amato both talked about this years ago on ESPN. Tom O'Brien has almost certainly gotten his team's attention finally with that victory and expect the Wolfpack to give USF all they can handle this week. They may even score another upset.
- Don't be fooled by BC's second half performance against a weak Central Florida team. The Eagles have problems. Maybe Tom O'Brien knew he didn't recruit well at the end of his tenure and that's why he bailed to Raleigh.
