Time for Miami's Football only fans to whine some more. Frank Haith has received a contract extension through the 2012-2013 season which will pay him according to a source "almost twice as much as Randy Shannon makes annually, and more than Leonard Hamilton has ever made at Miami or FSU." The source didn't reveal to me the actual salary for either Shannon or Haith but already hearing some complaints about the amount of money being spent on Basketball at the "U," I wonder if this will create more controversy. However, Miami did lure Bill Young away from Kansas as Defensive Coordinator so it's not like the Athletic Department is spending no money on Football. Besides, I believe Haith's new salary is probably simply met by combining his previous salary with the amount of annual money paid to Perry Clark to buyout his contract. Clark thankfully is now off UM's Books.
Frank Haith has not only guided Miami back to the NCAA Tournament after the disastrous reign of Perry Clark but he has produced a 100% graduation rate and a winning program. Job well done and good proactive move by Miami to avoid the same drama we went through two years ago when Oklahoma and NC State both pursued Coach Haith and Miami had a hard time keeping him thanks to the heavy burden of the buyout of Perry Clark's contract.
