I could say I told you so. Before the season I predicted Miami would have a losing record. People flamed me, abused me and screamed at me claiming this was a 10-2 type team. While I was right about the record, I never imagined Miami would have a collection of players who simply quit on their team, coaches, students and community. Miami Football has turned into a rudderless ship whose anchor has been thrown overboard and is sinking fast.
Today's game against the second biggest rival Miami plays on a regular basis was a complete embarrassment. This in my opinion is far more unacceptable than being bombed by Oklahoma or Virginia. Today was the culmination of the collapse of the Miami program which began in Tempe back in January 2003. Sadly, I don't see Miami returning even to bowl eligible form for several years. Despite all the bluster about recruiting classes I am going on the record now saying Miami will win less than 5 games in 2008 and even fewer in 2009. Be pleased that Oklahoma and Ohio State are giving Miami return home games in upcoming seasons because Miami is quickly headed towards being the type of program you don't return games with if you are a big boy. In fact Miami should be thankful it got into a league of the ACC's stature when it did because Miami Athletics is rapidly becoming of C-USA or WAC caliber.
These may seem like harsh words but they are true. Only a C-USA caliber or worse program would hire from within when they fired a Head Coach based on performance and only a program of that sort of caliber would be forced to permanently cede its home field advantage in a historic stadium to make a few extra bucks in what amounts to a neutral field where Miami will begin to play its home games next year. For the record part of me is now glad they are demolishing the OB. The current Miami Football players don't deserve to play in that special stadium on that hallowed ground. They haven't earned the right to call themselves Miami Hurricanes and never will.
I'll have some thoughts about the game, individual players and the team later.

What an embarrassment!
They stink!!
Brung back Coker!
Isn't Shannon to blame for this?
You guys are being viewed as a joke around the league. I feel bad for you. Certainly Shannon seems like a gentleman and good mentor for kids, but perhaps he just isn't coaching material?
Well maybe we could have avoided this if we had done a proper coaching search last year. Otherwise keeping Clappy would have been the best bet.
