The hiring of Randy Shannon gave Canes fans a feel good story for a day or two and a diversion from the reality of the current state of the program. In the past few weeks Miami has lost their four best recruits, two of whom had committed to Miami last season but could not qualify academically and thus attended prep school. The biggest blow is the loss of Graig Cooper, a RB from Memphis, TN. Last year he was a find for Coach Larry Coker, a two star recruit, but he failed to get the required SAT score for admission to UM and went to prep school. Cooper is now regarded as the best RB recruit in the nation after a great prep school season and bring speed and shiftiness Miami's current backs lack. Last week he de-committed to Miami and will soon commit to Florida. LeSean McCoy was regarded as one of the top 5 backs in the nation last year, and he too failed to get into Miami and after a season of prep school he is now headed to Penn State. Phelon Jones, a CB from Mobile, AL decommitted to Miami according to Scout.com on Saturday is likely headed to LSU. Miami has also lost the commitment of WR Deonte Thompson.

Since Miami is in the ACC, a basketball conference, is there really a need to get the top football recruits to be competitive, NO. This activity is normal under any coaching change.
I had predicted that Miami would go with a black coach when I saw the Miami alumni that made the trip to Duke.
So much wrong with this blog i don't know where to start.
#1. Techincally LeSean McCoy was NEVER a commit. He didn't sign an LOI, he didn't take an official visit, our coaches stopped recruiting him. No one ever expected him to make it to Miami.
#2: WR Deonte Thompson was NEVER commited to Miami, so how could we lose his commitment?
#3: Our four best commits were Damien Berry, Harland Gunn, Graig Cooper and Demarcus Van Dyke.
We've lost ONE of those players, DVD. Cooper is not an official decommit & still may sign with Miami.
Try a little research next time.
Wasn't Kyle Wright a "great" recruit too? You can't always pick 'em in high school.
Do you guys actually talk to anyone who knows anything, or is the standard for your information just posting rumors as facts or making stuff up? I can't believe how much you get wrong about so many different things. I wish you were right about some of this stuff, but it is hard to take anything you guys say seriously with the track record of mistakes on the first page alone.

Miami will have an awesome recruiting class this year. We have amazing talent at the WR position and we are looking to beef up other areas as well. Let's all just stay positive and focus on Nevada, because--believe it or not--many of our top recruits are focusing on that game too!
