ACC Tuesday

A ho hum week in the ACC, with only one league game. Behind a strong performance from Jared Dudley, BC hammered Maryland at home. Sean Marshall continued to be a defensive stopper in the paint as BC threw off a sluggish early season start and handed Maryland yet another road loss in the ACC. Over the past four seasons the Terps have become one of the worst road teams in the league.

This week's power poll (Last Week)

1. North Carolina (1)

Who else? Brandon Wright seems to be pushing Wayne Ellington for the honor of best Tar Heel Freshman.

2. Duke (2)

Josh McRoberts is not dominating in the paint the way he should, but thankfully for Duke he hasn't had to yet.

3. Boston College (5)

Jared Dudley remains one of the best big game players in the league and you have to love how Al Skinner's team always responds when people write them off.

4. Virginia (6)

Finals week at UVA paid off with a 2 spot jump thanks to opposition losses!

5. Maryland (3)

This is getting old. Just when you think that the Terps are back to their early decade form they perform the way they did at the Conte Forum the other night. Until Maryland beats somebody ACC opponent worthwhile on the road (besides Duke) they won't get any higher than this.

6. Clemson (8)

I'm not ready to annoit Clemson yet, but I like Oliver Purnell as a coach and they are winning enough non league games against decent RPI opponents to make a push for an NCAA at large bid at season's end.

7. Florida State (7)

Road wins over Stateson and Georgia State keep the Noles chugging until the next test comes along versus Providence in two weeks. Ralph Mims finally seems to be developing the consistent outside game the Noles need from him.

8. Georgia Tech (4)

Losing to a depleted Miami team wasn't bad enough for this squad I had tipped to be a Final Four sleeper. Losing to a rebuilding Vandy team has got to be considered unacceptable. Those are the type of games ACC teams are suppossed to win. Thaddeus Young looks like the real deal at least.

9. Virginia Tech (11)

The Hokies blew out two weak sisters and climb in the power poll.

10. NC State (10)

This thin team continues to play to their maximum potential. Give Sidney Lowe credit.

11. Miami (9)

No Anthony King = No Hope. I'm not sure the Canes can keep their heads above water while King is out injured. Too bad because the team seemed to be gelling when he got hurt. At least the loss to Buffalo does not look as terrible anymore.

12. Wake Forest (12)

When does ACC Football season start again? That seems to be the Deacons new game!

I wonder if the Semenholes will hire a band to play for their road basketball games just like they do for their football team....

FSU band will get the axe. Title IX wont be able to keep that program alive as long as TK has anything to do with FSU
