Tennessee alum and ESPN talking head Woody Paige believes so, as he called for an investigation on air. Paige speculated that Brian Pata's murder was part of a drug deal gone bad because Miami is "filled with thugs and immigrants," to quote Paige. Miami "really isn't an American city" continued Paige. One of my offices happens to be in Coral Gables, where the University is, and trust me, the Gables is as American as New York or San Francisco. No, it's not as "American" as Knoxville or Lubbock, but as far as I am concerned (and I am a Democrat as most of you know) no city in coastal American is as "American" as cities in the interior. That's why FOX News and talk radio are so successful. But being more "American" than another place does not make a place more deserving of virtue.
It's interesting that Paige isn't talking about the three Tennessee players charged with disorderly conduct this past weekend bringing the grand total of Tennessee players arrested since the beginning of 2005 to 29! For those scoring at home that is 27 more than Miami.
It's amazing that ESPN fired Rush Limbaugh for his statements about Donovan McNabb (I'm not a Limbaugh fan by any stretch but he was fired due to political pressure, and probably should have been given an opportunity to apologize and stay on the air) and yet will tolerate such obviously racist and irresponsible rhetoric from Woody Paige.

The Miami program should be investigated, though the FBI has plenty of other problems to deal with. Why is it when a program with so many thuggish kids suffers so few arrests? Clearly the police in Miami are on the take, covering up for the players. Here in Tallahassee, we get our asses slammed by the media every time their is an incident. We don't have big city, corrupt cops to cover up the crimes our players engage in.
Hey Woody! Did you buy the booze for Arian Foster last weekend? Or perhaps suggest the "tough" 2 quarter suspension for him against Arkansas?
Guess what Woody, UT sucks this year and you are going to have to suck up a loss to Ark and Vandy and like it!

Does the FBI honestly give a shit about college football? Hell no! The closest they might come is investigating insider gambling. If you want an agency to look into the Canes, I suggest the INS. I am sure there are some students there that arent exactly "legal," and the CASH paid for their tuition probably has trace elements of cocaine and blood from the South American cartels.
Is there nothing else to write about? Cant we find some link between Rutgers and their players from S. Florida? How embarrassing would it be if it had been Rutgers that beat Miami 31-7 rather than Louisville?
Last night's game was wonderful to watch. Aside from some shotty officiating, the right team won!

Let me tell you about Woody Paige. It was 1997 and I was attending the Tennessee - Georgia game in Knoxville as a member of the press and for reasons of anonymity I'm not going to tell you who I worked for.
We're up in the press booth and Woody is taking shots of Whisky with some of the other reporters. He's a little tipsy and starting to get obnoxious. I had met him on another occassion and he seemed to be a little flamboyant and outspoken. He wanted to be the life of the party.
Well this day was no different. As the first half neared the end Woody was getting obliterated. He was so drunk he was cursing up a storm about how good the Vols were. He then ripped off his shirt and pants and challenged some of the Georgia press to a wrestling match right in the middle of the press room.
Offcourse nobody stepped up to this lunatics challenge. The thought of wrestling a half-naked drunken idiot was not what I had envisioned on my trip to this game. As the second half wore on it was getting out of control. Woody was so belligerent security was called in and Mr. Paige was escorted out of the press booth.
After the game I happened to pass by Woody outside the stadium. He was slumped over a group of hedges in the press praking lot puking his guts out. Now that's a typical volunteer.
I was at that game and it wasn't Woody puking in the bushes cause he was drunk. He was giving a UT fan a blowjob and he was gagging.
