- ESPN's Joe Schad reported Sunday Morning Miami's top choice for coach is Steve Spurrier.
- Steve Spurrier denied he has had any contact with Miami during his weekly teleconference with reporters and stated he would like to stay at South Carolina and win the SEC. However, he stated that it was flattering to be mentioned in connection with a program of Miami's elite stature.
- CSTV responded by reinterating the initial report and quoting additional sources that state Spurrier would like out at South Carolina and would welcome the opportunity to coach Miami.
- Larry Coker stated " I think he'd (Spurrier) be a good candidate if this job was open. I know Steve. If this job were open I think he'd be a heck of a nice candidate."
Rumors and Speculation From Various Websites:
- Miami and South Carolina are already discussing a buyout package.
- Steve Spurrier has already been contacting potential staff at Miami.
- South Carolina will be charged with major violations by the NCAA and thus Spurrier will want to bail.
- Paul Dee has had this trial balloon floated in order to put pressure on Rutgers Head Coach and Former UM Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano to make a decision about whether or not to accept a forthcoming offer from Miami.
- Spurrier will recieve an extension at South Carolina that makes him the 2nd highest paid coach in College Football.
- Steve Spurrier is going to leave South Carolina regardless, having determined much like the Redskins situation he cannot win there.
- Larry Coker will be retained by Miami if he beats BC Thanksgiving Night and fired after next season unless Miami wins the ACC. That will allow Miami to save on a potential buyout and would make Spurrier and Schiano "more available."

I heard that FSU is firing Bowden and Spurrier will split his time between Tallahasse and Coral Gables to spite the Gators. He feels they are the same team anyhow!
Anonymous makes an interesting assertion. I would kinda like to see that Duck ride Black Beauty.
It's an Ibis not a duck.
AFLAC!!!!!!
Spurrier is not going anywhere, I live in Columbia, and this is his last stop. MIAMI needs to find someone else to clean up their mess.
South Carolina has tons of money and fan support, they just signed off on a $200 million dollar facilites upgrade package to include pushing the seating up Williams-Brice . He has good recruiting prospects and has almost the whole team comming back next year, including NFL prospect Syndey Rice -
Forget about it, honestly we believe here in South Carolina that the rumor was started by Clemson faithful, to stir up South Carolina's minds the week before the Rivalry game .
South Carolina is truly one of the great jobs in the nation. Great fanbase, top recruiting area and low expectations. Going to Miami with the rabid fans, idiot sports talk hosts and all the f'n new yorkers who have adopted NUM as their team who expect 11-0 every year is not Stevie's cup of tea. Nor are the Gators and their spoiled young fan base who didn't appreaciate his yearly drubbings of Georgia and instead obsessed on Florida State and bowl games.
MTV has heard about the job at Miami and is proposing that Rob and Big Black go down their to coach rather than their televison show.
Rob who is a skater with minimal skills and cant hold Tony Hawks cock has never played football.
Big Black (nickname) is a 390 pound tub o shit body guard that likes scrawny skater boys.
BB will recruit along with Michael Richards while Rob runs practices and coaches.
Just announced, Steve Spurrier is the new head coach of East Carolina!!!
