A Star is Born

Matt Grothe has that "it" factor

When Jim Leavitt made the controversial decision to bench returning starting QB Pat Julmiste in favor of Freshman Matt Grothe he made many questioned why the change was made. Julmiste after all led South Florida within an eyelash of a BCS birth last season. But the Bulls did finish with 3 straight losses, and with departure of all everything playmaker, Andre Hall, The Bulls would need some more stability in the passing game.

Last night Grothe brought the Bulls back from the brink to within a 2 point conversion of sending undefeated Rutgers to overtime. Earlier this season Grother led fourth quarter comebacks against Florida International and McNeese State. (His two fourth quarter comebacks is already more than Miami's Kyle Wright has in his career. The Sun Sentinel reminded us yesterday that Kyle Wright was higher rated recruit in 2003 than Reggie Bush!) Yet another excellent show by Grothe in the 4th quarter last should give USF fans a good feeling about the future.

Nice story except one little pet peeve of mine. Can you get through any blurb about the quarterback position without taking a shot at Kyle Wright? We know where you stand. Enough Already!
