Widespread speculation that UM's Board of Trustees was preparing to meet and discuss Coker's future was shot down by Dee. "Where we are right now is that Larry Coker is our coach and we're supportive of Larry Coker," Dee said. "He's going to take us through the rest of our games and he's going to be our coach. "I don't know what the future holds. We're going to evaluate everything after the season. We do that every year. But you don't do that in the middle of the year and we're not going to consider doing that." (Palm Beach Post)
Since Coker is not going anywhere in the next few months, it will be most interesting to gauge the fan response. Will Miami fans openly turn against their team? Having lived through the Ron Zook years with the Gators I thought I would never again see fan hostility so intense to the Head Coach, but Jeremy Foley wisely dismissed Zook before the boiling point which has now come with Coker. The intensity of the vast majority of Miami fans against Coker has now reached unhealthy levels. Miami's scout.com affiliate website set a one day record for number of posts by any scout.com site (including those for such popular schools as Michigan and Ohio State) on Saturday. The hatred towards Coker on the message boards was so vitriolic that I myself felt sorry for him, inspite of my obvious anger at the current situation with the Hurricanes. The debacle Saturday was just the latest in a string of unbelievably bad coaching performances that have reduced Miami, which was the dominant program in College Football at the beginning of Coker's tenure five years ago to a national joke of epic proportions.
TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE: THE SUN SENTINEL REPORTS THAT COKER WILL LIKELY BE TERMINATED AT THE END OF REGULAR SEASON IF MIAMI DOES NOT WIN THE ACC TITLE, WHICH MAY REQUIRE THE HURRICANES TO RUN THE TABLE. THE ARTICLE ALSO STATES THAT PAUL DEE MAY BE FORCED INTO RETIRMENT.
RUMOURS ARE SWIRLING THAT A DECISION HAD BEEN MADE TO FIRE COKER OVER THE WEEKEND AND THAT DEE PULLED BACK FOR WHATEVER REASON.

How can you feel sorry for anyone making $2 million dollars a year playing/coaching sports?
Do you honestly think Larry Coker reads any blogs or gives a shit about anyone calling into the sports shows, or writing abotu him online?
The reason there is so much activity is that 90% of Miami's fans are non-working, food stamp collecting, welfare refugees using the computer at the public library to write hate letters.
If you morons in Miami actually had jobs, could you imagine how much better you could make that derilict city? How less corrupt its police dept would be... how the Orange Bowl might actually be torn down and built with something other than rebar?

I had decided with two minutes left in the game that I couldn't take it any more. Paul Dee needed to be held accountable for the nightmare that we are all living. I needed to let him know, not out of anger or rage, but just mere observations and care for this program that we have become a ghost of our former selves. He needs to be held accountable for what is happening at the Athletic Dept.
As all the Louisville fans celebrated their victory, I jumped the wall and went to look for Dee.
Verbatim this is what was said and what happened.
Paul was headed to the locker room, I went up to him, tapped him on his shoulder. He turned around for once second, looked at me and I spoke my mind.
"Paul, you can't be happy with this! We aren't even competitive anymore! We can't score! We are a joke and you need to held accountable for giving this clown an extension! We are an embarrassment Paul!"
He then turned his back on me and started walking away.
At that point, the FHP that was assigned to him asked me to " get out of here." There was no restrainment and I had no thoughts of physically attacking PD or the FHP. Also I had no idea that there were any reporters around when this happened so I was looking to make the papers.
Paul Dee said nothing. But what was he going to say? What did I expect him to do, start whistling "Don't Worry Be Happy?"
I do not claim to be speaking for the masses, the majority of the fans, the extreme left or right, or the bottom 3%. I only spoke for myself,and I felt that Paul Dee needed to hear what I had to say not in a letter or in a e-mail, but in his face. Paul Dee needs to be held accountable for this train wreck. We all have seen it coming for four years and it's going to be worse, much much worse before it gets better. This is not the University of Miami, this is not the product that we were promised. Unfortunately, there will be many, many more darker days ahead. On Saturday, I could no longer remain silent, I had to say it to his face.
I won't be in the country for the Houston game nor the UNC game, but I look forward to seeing everyone at the home games and at GT, MD, and UVA. I will support and not criticize the players, but I feel that we need to hold the powers that be accountable.

Donuts isn't going to fire Coker - not only does he not want to spend the $$$$, but to do so will reveal his own blunder on a national stage. Nope - we definitely ride out the season with Lawrence, and almost certainly next season, and....well...you get the drill.

I had a great weekend! We fleeced another 10,000 fans into traveling to Louisville to help sell out their stadium and watch a re-eneactment of the battle of waterloo.

There was some sort of meeting on Sunday with Coker and Dee tried to buy him out. However, Coker was not interested in the buyout the offered (not sure what it was). So basically, the long contract ext. that he got last year is the big problem. He's not going to walk from all that money. The plan now is to hope that the big time Donors to the program step up to the plate and give the money necessary to buy him out. Wish I had more but thats all for now.
