I Want the Good Days Back

According to sources in the Alumni Association, The University of Miami administration -- despite publicly saying they are OK with Coker -- are fuming mad and are none too happy with the regression of the football team.

Several different alumni have already called for his dismissal, while several others have threatened that a season with 7 or fewer wins will prompt a backlash and a lack of continual monetary support -- which means no donations to athletics (football in particularly), and no renewal of their season tickets at the Orange Bowl. Add to that the fact that they are willing to provide the money to buy out his contract if that's what it would come down to, and the university might actually take them up on it.

I smell trouble.

Coker doesn't think he's on a hot seat. Maybe the South Florida heat has gotten to him.

Kyle Wright thinks this team can turn it around. This coming from a quarterback that can't turn around without seeing a different color jersey around him. They'd better. If not, I see very, very ugly days coming from Coral Gables.

I know of one such alumnus that will not donate and renew. Even though he's not on the governing board of the association, he's telling me that a lot are going to follow suit.

Scooby Doo said it best, "Ruh, Roh!"

What does this mean for the team? Nothing. For now. They have to start putting it together, though. And by they, I mean a Kyle Wright-less team. Yes, I've given up on him. Give Freeman a shot. What's the worst that could happen? Another loss?

Look people. Will you finaly admit Coker is staying and instead of tearing him and the team down, try and support them for a change? Sure they are having a bad spell, but considering how many championships they have won for you so-called "fans" they have earned everyone's loyalty and support.

Anonymous, I am just reporting some inside scoop.

I am not tearing the team down, that's been done already.

It's true: they need to start winning.

Nobody cares about his back-to-back trips to the national title game, every fan -- not just Hurricanes' fans -- it's what have you done for me lately?

Frankly, Coker, and especially Wright, have done nothing. Coker has back-to-back three loss seasons, and Brock Berlin was his savior in the Peach Bowl the first of two times they were in it.

Wright hasn't done anything. He's 0-1 in a bowl game. He's 0-2 against Florida State. If you're keeping track at home, Berlin was 3-0 vs. Florida State and Florida combined, and was 1-0 in the bowl game.

So, don't tell us how to cheer for our team, because we dish out the negativity when we need to, but we relish in all the good as well.

Well done Jorge!

Kyle Wright is a big part of the problem. For whatever reason this kid who was the #1 recruit in the nation cannot pick up a blitz, read a defense or check off of his recievers. He cannot call an audible and is totally incapable of leading a team through inspiring his team mates. In the last 3 weeks the Miami fan websites have had numerous posts by fans apologizing to Brock Berlin for the rude treatment he used to get at the OB. These posts have also brought up a point both Gregg and I have made over and over.....Berlin may have been sloppy and made mistakes, but he was competitor who brought UM from behind 5 times in the 4th quarter for victory, three of those games were shootouts where Berlin did not get the sort of defensive help Wright has been getting. YET KW HAS THROWN A GRAND TOTAL OF 1 4TH QTR TD IN HIS CAREER! THIS GUY MAY HAVE ALL THE PHYSICAL TOOLS BUT HE IS NOT A LEADER, PERIOD!

I'm not beating up on Coker anymore on this website. Time for the players to take responsibility for UM being on of the worst IA teams in the nation this season. They are the ones who quit versus Louisville, not Coker.

Look for Wright to light up Houston's weak secondary.

I am one of the alumni who is going to stop giving unless the coaching change is made. With Jeff Fisher, a great NFL coach expressing interest in the job we need to move NOW!!!!!!!

I want Butch Davis back. Hell, I'll even take Dennis Erickson back. Those coaches got it done.

But Kartik you're right. It wasn't Coker who quit versus Louisville, it was the team.

Brandon Meriweather and Jon Beason are the only ones that seem to get it, saying something along the lines of, "It's not just us. It's for all the former players in the NFL as well. It's embarassing for them, too."

It's all about tradition. And there's not a one that this team has upheld.

Dorsey 11,

How does publishing such stuff hurt the Canes? If anything it should fire them up! These guys don't understand what an obligation they have when the put on a helmet with the "U" on it.
